a long time coming…

This site has been a long time coming! I have been working as a nutritional therapist for 5 years and have just finished additional training to become an Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN). However, my journey started 15 years ago with a passion for healthy living, raw foods and sustainable living.

I didn’t plan to create a website but wanted to help people one at a time through nutrition consultations. However, I see people regularly who are confused by mis-information. There is so much information out there on nutrition, much of it is good, much of it bad, but how do you make one out from the other? One way to do this is to look for the qualification behind the writer. AfN membership is one symbol of quality, with membership to the AfN requiring solid scientific study in all areas of food and nutrition, from food safety and regulation, to nutrition through the lifecycle, clinical nutrition and public health nutrition. As far as I am concerned it is the gold standard. Members of the British Association for Nutritional Therapy (BANT) are trained specifically in clinical nutrition, and the standpoint is slightly different being very much a holistic approach based on principles of functional medicine.

Through this site I hope to share information in a transparent way, I have no affiliations, no sponsorship, and my only objective is to spread knowledge to empower others to choose the healthy path! When it comes to the healthy path I believe there are certain features of a healthier eating pattern, but specificities can differ between individuals. I have eaten diets based on raw vegan, vegan, paleo, vegetarian, pescatarian, and mediterranean principles and do not favour one particular pattern over another, whilst I can see benefits of each diet. We are all individuals and what works for one person does not necessarily work for another.
